A probable military compound is visible to the north-west of Mortehoe Station on aerial photographs dating from 1946 to 1947. A curvilinear trackway, approximately 6 metres in width, accesses three probable concrete hut bases – two of circa 4.5 by 10 metres in size and one larger at 32 by 10 metres with possible porches at each of the short ends. These were probably the bases for temporary huts associated with Second World War military activity, presumably redistribution, at Mortehoe Station. A roughly rectangular and possibly levelled area immediately north of the structures was probably associated. The area has been redeveloped and housing had replaced the complex by 1989.
