Exmoor National Park, 2009, Exmoor National Park National Mapping Programme (Archive - Survey). SDV350587.

The ruins of a probable Post Medieval agricultural building are visible as several upstanding walls on aerial photographs of the 1950s at SS 5613 4522. Its location at the top of a valley, or Combe, suggests that it was most likely a barn or shelter for grazing animals. The remains of at least three parallel upstanding walls are visible, some of which have corners, suggesting the building was rectilinear in plan, perhaps with a central internal wall. Partial remains of several other shorter parallel walls are also visible at the opposite ends of the building. The building appears to face south-west on a steep south-west facing slope above a stream labelled Bodstone Gullies on the Ordnance Survey 1:25000 map of 2006. It is shown, but not annotated, on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map of 1889. The building is not visible on aerial photographs taken in 1989 and may have been demolished. A smaller building further down the valley to the south west may be associated with this (MDV103397)

Knight, S., 2012, Backlog Input Element of the North Devon Coast AONB National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV350734.

The building is not depicted on the Tithe map and appears therefore to have been constructed between the mid and late nineteenth century, and then to have become disused by the 1940s when it is visible on aerial photographs as a ruin. Only two sides of the building are visible on aerial photographs taken in 2006-2007.
