A small area of disturbed ground visible on aerial photographs as an earthwork at the top of Clorridge Hill, Combe Martin is most likely to be the remains of Post Medieval stone quarrying. The feature is a small hollow cut into an area of natural rock outcropping, located at SS 5786 4621. It measures approximately 7 metres in diameter but does not appear to be particularly deep. No such quarry is shown on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map and it is possible that this feature postdates the publication of this map; however, it does not appear on any subsequent maps and may well have been dismissed as a natural feature.
