Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

The banks and ditches do not correspond to any depicted field boundaries.

Royal Air Force, 1956, RAF/82/1451, NMR RAF/82/145 F21 0082-0083 12-JUL-1956 (Aerial Photograph). SDV349052.

Cornwall County Council, 2002, Cornwall National Mapping Programme (Archive - Survey). SDV350748.

A fragmentary ordered, rectilinear linear system, 'field' size on average 100m by 75m. Visible as earthwork and cropmark banks and ditches and transcribed from aerial photographs dating to 1956. They are interpreted as the remains of field boundaries of medieval or later date.

Knight, S., 2012, Backlog Input Element of the North Devon Coast AONB National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV350734.

The curvilinear features are not depicted on the Tithe map and are likely to have gone out of use by the mid nineteenth century. Their curvlinear shape and layout conforms to the surrounding field system, characterised as medieval in origin, and they appear to be former medieval strip field boundaries.
