HER Number:MDV103588
Name:Field boundaries at Bagtor Mine, Ilsington

Summary

Remains of abandoned medieval or post-medieval enclosure walls and clearance cairns outside the boundary of the current enclosed land at Pinchaford. The field walls which include a cornditch following the course of a prehistoric reave, have been transected by the later Crownley Parks tinwork leaving a small peninsula of land on the north side. This was clearly not considered worth retrieving after the tinwork was abandoned and the later enclosure now follows the southern edge of the tinwork. Several small clearance heaps are visible inside the cornditch.
