Full description

Royal Commission for the Historical Monuments of England, 1993-1998, Dartmoor Royal Forest Project, P. Newman (Report - Survey). SDV346608.

(02/11/1995) SX 6560271062. A robbed cairn 50 metres south-west of the ruinous former Hooten Wheals Mine offices on the south flank of Down Ridge. The turf covered stony mound is circular with a diameter of 8.0 metres and stands 0.75 metres high. A square hollow 1.6 metres wide, probably the result of an unrecorded excavation, lies centrally in the mound with a spoil heap on its north-western margin.
