Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

The possible field boundaries are not depicted on the Chivelstone parish tithe map of between 1838-48.

The remains of two roughly parallel northeast-southwest aligned possible field boundaries of potential medieval date are visible as earthwork banks.

The remains of two roughly parallel northeast-southwest aligned possible field boundaries of potential medieval date are visible as earthwork banks on LiDAR imagery dating to 1998-2008, south of East Prawle. The banks are approximately 10m wide and separated by approximately 70m and are situated parallel to steep southeast sloping ground towards the cliff edge. The earthwork banks may form part of medieval land division which passed out of use by the time of the Chivelstone parish tithe map of between 1838-48.
