Lydford Parish Council, 29/06/2007, Commemorative Plaque (Un-published). SDV351171.
Application form for the replacement of the plaque commemorating Captain Nigel Hunter a hero of the First World War on which there is a poem written by him contrasting the peace of the moor with the horrors that surrounded him at Ypres. The plaque set in a rocky outcrop adjacent to the River Lyd was becoming worn and the text illegible. The proposal is for it to be replaced with a new bronze plaque cast from the original mould which is still in the possession of Captain Hunter's family.
Unknown, Unknown, Memorial on Dartmoor (Article in Serial). SDV351172.
Dedication of a tablet in memory of the late Captain N.D.R. Hunter at Black Rock above the River Lyd. The spot was chosen by his parents as it was visited by Captain Hunter in July 1915 a few days before he first went to the western front. He was fond of the area and there composed some verses of farewell which showed a premonition that he would not live to return. Details of the inscription and the names of those who attended the ceremony which was led by the Rector of Lydford are given.
