Summary

A bomb crater of Second World War date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of the 1940s onwards on the eastern bank of Cofflete Creek, south-west of Cofflete Farm. The earthwork is not visible on later aerial photographs and has probably been infilled and levelled.

A bomb crater is visible as an earthwork pit.

The location of the crater remains visible as an earthwork pit.

A bomb crater of Second World War date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, on the eastern bank of Cofflete Creek, west of South Barton Farm. The craters are probably associated with to the operation of an ‘N’ series bombing decoy at Worswell. The crater remains visible as an earthwork pit, albeit overgrown, on digital images derived from lidar data acquired from 1998 to 2010.
