Full description
Natural England Volunteers, 2009-2015, Natural England Volunteer Archaeological Survey, P7a (i & ii), sketch plan included (Worksheet). SDV350591.
(Visited 30/04/2010) Yarner Mine section of leat. Trench of leat clearly visible running for around 40 metres. Well maintained although there is infill in some parts and feature is becoming overgrown.
The mining rights to the mine were bought with rights to the ‘Pottery leat’. This extra, now unused section indicates that the flow of the leat was redirected to facilitate its entry into the processing yard at a more beneficial location. No evidence was found of a sluice gate although rock sides are clearly visible.
