Full description

Devon and Somerset County Councils, 2000-2002, Historic Farmsteads Database, BH037.7 (Machine readable data file). SDV349681.

Cattleshed. A long, originally open-fronted and thatched cattleshed for 20 cows plus a bull pen and calving house at its north end. In the 1940's it was extended to the front, in concrete block and reroofed in corrugated iron. Rubble stone walls. Rubblestone back wall and arcade to front. Corrugated iron roof. A-frame. 8-bays of A -frames with X- apexes. One set of back purlins. Double ridge. Now bolted together. Extension to front has a 20th century roof. Door/s; Metal framed windows/s; Open front. Originally, front was supported on timber posts, now replaced by concrete posts. North end is divided into a bull pen and a calving house. Three doors to rear, giving access to feeding passage. Mid-20th century extension is constructed from concrete block with metal tilting casements in each end and sliding metal doors to the front. Bull pen; Calving pens; Concrete stalls; Feeding passage. Concrete stalls and concrete floor. Bull pen and calving house. Currently a cow house.
