A small structure, approximately 5 by 4 metres in size, is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1945. It appears to have two parts and is sited within a small rectilinear enclosure, the south side of which is indistinct, with a track to the building from the road to the west. Its temporary appearance and location overlooking the valley that leads from the beach suggests it could have been a military observation building of Second World War date. It is not depicted on the 1904-1906 Ordnance Survey maps, nor on the post-war (1950s-1960s) mapping, suggesting that it was constructed in the first half of the twentieth century and removed soon after the Second World War ended. However a two part pitched roof building in exactly this location is visible on later aerial photographs and appears to be extant. A site visit could clarify whether this is likely to be the building visible on the 1940s aerial photographs, and if so whether it could have had a military function.
