Full description
Devon and Somerset County Councils, 2000-2002, Historic Farmsteads Database, BH040.4 (Machine readable data file). SDV349681.
Threshing barn. Gable-ended threshing barn, with two fleur de lis finials at each end. It is possible that it incorporates an earlier building as wall thicknesses vary. The 1889 Ordnance Survey map shows that the building extended further to the north then. There is a large 6-bay, 20th century lean-to to the rear, with a monopitch roof, and a concrete block front, with 3 small windows and 2 metal windows with glazing bars and a wide opening. Chert; limestone walls. Chert rubblestone with limestone dressings to the rear threshing door. Roman tile roof. Tie Beam Truss. 6 bay roof of tie beam trusses with king ties and raking struts. Ridgeboard. Loading hatch; Metal framed windows/s; Opposing doors to threshing floor. The rear threshing door is partially blocked. The front threshing opening has 2, 2-flap ledge and brace doors in a plain, pegged frame. There is a loading hatch in the south wall which has an internal splay. It has a 20th century tilting casement window in the opening. Currently disused.
