Memorial to John Nichols, who fell during World War I. A handwritten memorial to four men who died in World War II also includes a John Nichols from World War I, but gives a different date for his death and names a burial place and may refer to John Nicholls whose family farmed in the adjoining parish of Ilsington.

Inscription: THIS MEMORIAL/ WAS ERECTED BY THE/ PARISHIONERS OF OGWELL/ IN MEMORY OF/ PTE. JOHN NICHOLS/ 2ND DEVON REGT./ WHO WAS KILLED/ WHILST ON ACTIVE/ SERVICE DURING THE/ GREAT WAR/ 1914 - 19.
