A small structure, approximately 4 metres square, is visible on aerial photographs taken between 1941 and 1951. It is not depicted on the 1904-1906 Ordnance Survey maps and was probably a Second World War pillbox defending the Avon estuary from seaborne attack. It is not visible on later available aerial photographs and may be obscured by tree cover, although a small low subrectangular feature is visible in the intertidal zone on aerial photographs taken in 2002.
