A small structure, approximately 2 metres square, is visible on aerial photographs from 1941. It is not depicted on the 1904-1906 Ordnance Survey maps and was probably a Second World War structure for defending the Avon estuary from seaborne attack. It is visible in the inter-tidal zone on aerial photographs taken in 2007, indicating the extent of coastal erosion.
