A small sub-square possible earthwork mound or structure is visible on aerial photographs of 1945 onwards, on the south-facing slopes of a field overlooking the Buckland Stream and the road between Bantham and West Buckland. The feature is largely obscured by vegetation but images derived from Lidar reveal it to probably be a mound or positive feature such as a structure. On aerial photographs of the 1940s it was located adjacent to a hedge bank, since removed. The date and function of the possible mound or structure are unknown. It is possible the vegetation cover obscures a structure of Second World War date, such as a pillbox. Further field investigation is required to clarify the character of the site.
