A small structure with flat roof, approximately 3.5 metres square, is visible on aerial photographs between 1941 and 1959. At 100 metres from the cliff edge above Butter Cove, its location is consistent with use as a defensive lookout protecting from attack from this potential landing place, and is likely to be of Second World War date. It may be associated with several other small buildings sited along the coast within Thurlestone Golf Course. This building is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1959, but not later photographs covering this location, and it is likely to have been removed in the 1960s or 1970s.
