A small structure with flat roof, approximately 3.5 metres square, is visible on aerial photographs between 1941 and 1945. At only 10 metres from the cliff edge above Yarmouth Sand, its location is consistent with use as a defensive lookout protecting from attack from this potential landing place, and is likely to be of Second World War date. It may be associated with several other small buildings sited along the coast within Thurlestone Golf Course, and with a nearby military trench (MDV104433). A building is visible in this approximate location on recent aerial photographs taken in 2012, although it has a different alignment and is presumably a different structure.
