A roughly oval earthwork pit, approximately 22 metres in maximum extent, is visible on aerial photographs from 1945 and on images derived from Lidar data captured between 2001 and 2010. It is not depicted on historic mapping but an old quarry is marked on the late nineteenth century Ordnance Survey maps in the east of Orcheton Wood, and this could be an extraction pit that pre-dates the mapping, although it is possible that it could be a natural feature. The earthwork is likely to survive.
