Full description
Devon and Somerset County Councils, 2000-2002, Historic Farmsteads Database, BH047.3 (Machine readable data file). SDV349681.
Bank barn. Forms a range with the adjoining stable. Adjoins the cart shed at the north east end. The first floor, accessible from ground level at the rear, was a threshing barn. The ground floor housed cattle. It is now divided into 3 animal sheds. Chert; limestone; Rubble stone, brick / concrete block repair walls. Chert rubblestone with limestone quoins. The front has been massively rebuilt in concrete block in the 20th century. Slate roof. Tie Beam Truss. 3 bays. Tie beams, lap- jointed at the apexes with plate yokes and a ridgeboard. Notched, lap -jointed, dovetailed raking struts. One set of back purlins on cleats. Door/s; opposing doors to threshing floor. Opposing threshing doors. The front doorway is blocked with concrete blocks and incorporates a plank man door. Rear doorway has rounded masonry jambs. The barn floor has been replaced with railway sleepers. At ground floor level, 3 animal sheds each with separate doors. Doors missing to central and east doorways. 2-flap door on strap hinges to west doorway. Currently disused.
