Full description

Devon and Somerset County Councils, 2000-2002, Historic Farmsteads Database, BH050.7 (Machine readable data file). SDV349681.

Cattle sheds. An L-shaped, gable-ended range of cattle sheds with a short return to the north, which were originally open-fronted. The existing sheds are likely to be a rebuild of earlier buildings in the same position. Rubble stone walls. Rear wall rubble stone, Front originally open now enclosed with corrugated iron. 20th century tile roof. 'Delta'. Tie beam truss. Tie beam trusses with raking struts and metal king tie. Notched, mortise and tenon apex. Ridgeboard and single set of back purlins on cleats. Arcade; timber window/s. Roof supported at front on timber posts on chamfered limestone padstones. Ties of trusses jointed into timber posts. Now clad in corrugated iron with 20th century doors through. To rear, inserted 20th century metal framed windows. North end (return) has door through to adjoining cart shed, 20th century timber window in rear wall and 20th century man door. Feeding passage. Rear feeding passage, which is brick, rendered in concrete and has a timber, rounded top, like a handrail. 20th century stalls made from concrete and timber railway sleepers. Currently disused.
