Brine's photo shows a stone cross on an octagonal, stepped base.

Stone cross. Trefoil carving on each arm of head of cross, tapering shaft with carved finials. Cross surmounts square plinth which bears carved names. Plinth surmounts two-stepped base. Top step of base bears plaques. Memorial located in raised, paved area with access up steps.
Inscription: TO THE MEMORY OF THE MEN/ OF UPLYME WHO LAID DOWN/ THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR KING/ AND COUNTRY 1914-1919/ 1939-1945
