Full description

Devon and Somerset County Councils, 2000-2002, Historic Farmsteads Database, BH139.4 (Machine readable data file). SDV349681.

Cider House. Apple loft; cider house; granary. The cider house is attached to the north end of the farmhouse and terraced into the hillslope to the rear. The apple loft above was also used as a granary. Chert, brick dressed walls. Slate roof. King post. 2 bays, kingpost truss with ridge board and one set of back purlins on cleats. Door/s; loading hatch; timber window/s. The cider house is a two storey building which is gable-ended to the north and attached to the farmhouse at its south end. There is a man door in the gable end, with a ledge and brace door to the apple loft. Original window opening in rear wall of loft now has 20th century 3 light, fixed pane window. To the front, there is a large wide doorway, with an inserted 20th century door and window. Inserted ground floor window to rear. Apple loft. Access to apple loft through outside door in gable end and through house. Internal door and frame have been moved from original position. Currently used for domestic utility / storage.
