A groyne of probable modern date is visible as a structure on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards at Ashprington Point. The groyne, which extends outwards from Ashprington Point, measures approximately 40m in length and is clearly visible on aerial photographs up to 1951, although is only partly visible by 1989. The groyne was not visible on other aerial photographs made available to the survey after this date.
