Two former quarries of modern date are visible as earthwork pits on aerial photographs of 1944 onwards and on digital images derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012, to the south of Bow Bridge. The two adjacent quarries, which are sub-oval in shape and cover an area of approximately 0.67 hectares each, are partially depicted as areas of quarrying on the first edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s and lie within an area characterised by former quarries. The former quarries remain visible as earthwork pits on digital images derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012.
