Full description

Brushfield, T. N., 1894, The Churchwardens' Accounts of East Budleigh, 353 (Article in Serial). SDV107199.

The tower of the parish church was used as a storehouse for militia purposes. The Churchwardens' accounts for 1600-1 show an item paid for making a key to the powder chest and mending the lock.

The tower was erected in 1407-9 when the church was largely rebuilt.
