A small, probably temporary structure of Second World War date and possible military function is visible on aerial photographs of 1941, adjacent to a field boundary, west of the coast path, south of Maidencombe. The images available to the survey are of poor quality, but the possible structure appears to be cruciform in shape and might have been enclosed in a compound circa 15 metres in diameter. The precise function of the structure is unknown but it might have been associated with a bombing range marker approximately 400 metres to the north. It is not visible on later aerial photographs and had probably been removed by 1946. A pillbox is recorded as being located in this area (MDV56057) but has not been located on the available aerial photographs.
