The traditional 18th -19th century farm buildings at Lower Lye have mostly undergone conversion to domestic use in the 1980s. Random. The steading is comprised of an L-shaped barn and stable block and an open- fronted cattleshed. The main stockyard is to the east of the house. The open-fronted cattleshed faces onto the yard, and the west side is formed by the threshing barn. To the rear of the barn, in front of the house, there is a tiny yard formed by the L-shape of the barn and stable. It is now a garden. Modern farmyard surface.
