Full description
Devon and Somerset County Councils, 2000-2002, Historic Farmsteads Database, BH180.3 (Machine readable data file). SDV349681.
North cattleshed. Cattle shed. Cattle shed; stable. The gable-ended open-fronted cattleshed faces south onto the yard and is built up against the east end of the stable. Chert; rubble stone, brick/concrete block repairs to walls. The original open-front is infilled with concrete block. Slate roof. Tie beam truss. A 3-bay roof of uncollared tie beam trusses with notched, mortise and tenon X-apexes, fixed with single pegs. There is a single set of trenched purlins and a ridgeboard. Door/s; open front; timber window/s. The trusses are supported at the front on a wall plate which stands on timber posts on sandstone pads. Two 2-flap doors to the front and two 20th century windows. Feeding rack. The central bay has a timber feeding rack. Along the rear wall, there is a low, 19th century brick wall with a timber top, for feeding troughs. The concrete floor is raised to the stalls. Currently stabling.
