Summary

Two fuel tanks are visible on aerial photographs between 1942 and 1958. They were camouflaged during the Second World War, when they stored aviation fuel. The tanks had been removed by 1989.

The two fuel tanks are visible on aerial photographs between 1942 and 1958 measuring 30 metres in diameter. They are depicted on 1930s Ordnance Survey mapping and had been painted with camouflage patterning presumably early in the Second World War, when they housed aviation fuel, to protect against aerial attack. The towers had been removed by 1980.
