A mound of unknown date and function is visible as a possible earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s and images derived from Lidar data flown between 1998 and 2012, to the south of Amity Farm, Dawlish. The mound measures up to 85 metres in diameter and is located on the tip of a spur overlooking the combe of Cockwood Marshes. The mound and two further, smaller mounds to the south-east, are similar in appearance to a number of mounds visible on Lidar to the west of Newton Abbot between Highweek and Hele Park which are thought to be geological in origin. It is therefore possible this earthwork, which is located on similar geology, is non-archaeological in origin. The tithe map and apportionment for Dawlish names this field (plot 446) as 'Part of of Kiln Brake'. Field as investigation is recommended.
