Nos 1a to 5 Northumberland Place is an early to mid 19th century terrace of labourers' cottages, probably for employees of Hubbard's livery stable, on this site between circa 1800 and 1900. The garage inserted under Nos 4 and 5 is a direct descendant of this stable. Graded 8 for architectural quality or historical value.
