Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV116543.

Bowl barrow, bronze age.

RCHME, Untitled Source (Report - Survey). SDV116545.

Vis=1/9/1989 (rchme) a round mound, probably a bowl barrow, situated at sy05548796 occupying flattish ground on a bluff between two e-w ravines. The sitehas extensive views to the e. Although covered with heather, the moundappears to be composed of small pebbles and soil; the natural surface geology of the area. Subcircular in plan, it measures 11.1m n to s and11.8m e to w, with a clear break in its w slope. It stands up to 1.2m high and has a prominent, bowl-shaped profile. The mound is apparentlyundisturbed. There is no reason to doubt its antiquity.

NMR, CITING PATTISON, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV116546.

Grinsel'ls ngr is slightly misplaced to the ne, while the os 1953 ngr is 150m too far to the sse (nmr, citing pattison).

Exeter Archaeology, 2003, East Devon Heathlands Archaeological Survey, 49, Part 2: Gazetteer, Site No. 171 (Report - Survey). SDV101648.

SMR gives grid references for barrow at SY 0557 8782 and SY 0554 8796 and describes barrow as 11.1 metres north-south by 11.8 metres east-west by 1.2 metres maximum height. No features identified during field visit. Site located at the top of an east facing slope under gorse 0.4 metre high. There appears to be some confusion with the SMR record as the description is the same as that given for NE/37 (site 168).

Exeter Archaeology, 2003-2004, East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Archaeological Survey, Site No. 1926 (Archive - Survey). SDV351568.

Barrow circa 11 metres diameter by 1.2 metres high.

Exeter Archaeology, 2007, East Devon Access Land Archaeological Survey 2007, 4, Site No. 1926 (Archive - Survey). SDV351571.

SMR gives grid references for barrow at SY 0557 8782 and SY 0554 8796 and describes barrow as 11.1 metres north-south by 11.8 metres east-west by 1.2 metres maximum height. No features identified in 2002 field visit. Site located at the top of an east facing slope under gorse 0.4 metre high. There appears to be some confusion with the SMR record as the description is the same as that of Site No. 1928.

Area under gorse to north of main trackway. Site not identified but would appear to be under no threat from foot traffic.

Protection during vegetation clearance.

Possible interpretation as one of a group of barrows in this area.
