A possible medieval strip field system is visible as a series of earthwork ditches and banks on aerial photographs of 1965 onwards and on digital images derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012, to the south of Powderham. The parallel earthwork ditches and banks are broadly northeast to southwest aligned and encompass an area of approximately 7 hectares. The boundaries are not depicted on the parish tithe map of approximately 1838-48, which is instead shown as an area of parkland associated with Powderham estate and which has thus helped to largely preserve this possible relict medieval field system. The field system remains visible as a series of earthwork ditches and banks on digital images derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012.
