Full description
Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.
The gravel pit is not depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, although a similar sized gravel pit is depicted in close proximity to the north.

A gravel pit of post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards and on digital images derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012, to the southwest of Coombe Farm. The sub-oval shaped earthwork pit measures approximately 66m in length by 42m in width and is located in close proximity to a similar sized gravel pit depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map of between the 1880’s-90’s.
