A possible gun pit of Second World War date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1943 onwards, along Slapton Sands. The gun pit is semi-circular in shape, measures approximately 11m in length and remains visible on aerial photographs up until 1946, having been completely levelled by 1951.
