A possible gun pit and slit trench of Second World War date are visible as earthwork pit and banked features on aerial photographs of 1943 onwards, to the southwest of Strete. The possible gun pit to the south is semi-circular in shape and measures approximately 10m in length. The slit trench to the north comprises a Z-Shaped earthwork pit, measuring approximately 7m in length, which is flanked on either side by two earthwork banks. It is unclear if these earthworks form part of an anti-invasion measure or part of the later training excercises carried out during preparations for the Normandy landings. The earthworks remain visible on aerial photographs up until 1946, although have been completely levelled by 1951.
