Plot 325 on the Lympstone Tithe Map of 1840 is recorded as 'Lime Pit Field' within the Tithe Apportionment.

A former extraction pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as a shallow earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards and on digital images derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012, to the southwest of Linhayes Farm. The former extraction pit is sub-oval in shape, measures approximately 32m in length by 27m in width and is located within an area characterised by similar such earthwork features.
