Cropmark ditches of unknown date are visible on oblique aerial photographs of 1985, to the northwest of Southbrook, near Cockwood The cropmark ditches are broadly north to south aligned and visible as a series short segments of up to 26m in length. The cropmark ditches may represent former field boundaries of potential medieval date, which passed out of use by the time of the parish tithe map of approximately 1838-48. Indeed, a series of similar cropmark ditches are also visible to the immediate south and in the adjacent field to the north and are depicted on the parish tithe map as field boundaries, although were not transcribed as part of this survey. The cropmark ditches were not visible on other aerial photographs or digital images made available to the survey.
