An earthwork cutting and parchmark feature of uncertain function and date is visible on aerial photographs of 1969 and 1979, to the south of Sowden Farm. The feature appears to be visible as a square shaped level platform which measures approximately 8.5m by 8.5m and is visible as a parchmark. The feature appears to have been terraced into the ground, with a slight earthwork cutting to the north, east and south. The feature may represent the remains of an earthwork platform for a possible building which was removed by the time of the parish tithe map of approximately 1838-48. It may, however, just as likely represent a modern agricultural feature associated with Sowden Farm which is located in close proximity to the north, for example a covered water tank or treatment works. The feature was not clearly visible on other aerial photographs or digital images made available to the survey.
