An extraction pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as a shallow earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards and on digital images derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012, to the west of Coombe Plantation. The former clay or gravel extraction pit is oval in shape, measures approximately 22m in length by 18m in width and is located within an area dominated by former such pits, many of which are depicted on historical mapping. The extraction pit remains visible as a shallow earthwork pit on digital images derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012.
