Field called 'Shoot Meadow' (Tithe Apportionment 908) on Tithe Apportionment/Tithe Map (1842/1843). Name may indicate some kind of sluice in a catchwork system (water meadow), or may instead be derived from the Old English 'sceat', indicating the 'shot' or 'block' of cultivation strips in a divided meadow (medieval).
