An extraction pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards at Goodmores Farm. The former clay or gravel extraction pit, which is located on land to the immediate west of the farm, is irregular in shape and measures approximately 43m in length by 27m in width. The extraction pit is located within an area dominated by similar such features. It appears, however, to have become redundant by the time of the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, which instead shows the site as being occupied by an orchard. Earthwork features associated with this orchard are also visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards and overlying the partially levelled extraction pit. The extraction pit remains visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1969, although has been completely levelled by 1996.
