An extraction pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards at Hulham. The site of the former clay or gravel extraction pit appears to be dissected by, and so predates, a field boundary first depicted on the Withycombe parish tithe map of approximately 1838-48. It is sub-oval in shape, measures approximately 50m in length by 37m in width and is located within an area dominated by similar such features. The extraction pit remains visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs up until 1969, although has been completely levelled and the site developed for residential housing by 1988.
