Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2013-2014, South Devon Coast Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV351146.

Former field boundaries of potential medieval date are visible as a series of earthwork banks and ditches on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the west of Knucklebones Wood. The three boundaries are visible as earthwork banks, with flanking earthwork ditches visible to the northern-most and southern-most boundaries. The boundary to the north is east to west aligned whilst those to the south are broadly north to south aligned. The boundaries may be of medieval origin and appear to have passed out of use by the time of the Colaton Raleigh parish tithe map of approximately 1838-48. The former boundaries are, however, partly defined by a line of trees shown on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. The earthwork boundaries remain visible on aerial photographs of 1975, although by 1988 the southern two boundaries have been completely levelled and the site developed for residential housing. The remaining boundary to the north remains visible as an earthwork ditch on aerial photographs of 1996, although is masked by vegetation after this date.
