An extraction pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the southwest of Withycombe Barton. The extraction pit, which has been cut into the side of a moderately western sloping coombe, is broadly semi-circular in shape and measures approximately 78m in length by 32m in width. The extraction pit is visible on aerial photographs up until 1996, although is largely obscured with dense vegetation after this date and was not clearly visible. The former extraction pit is located within an area dominated by similar such features.
