A possible extraction pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012, within the southeastern corner of Dalditch Plantation. The extraction pit is located on the northern side of Dalditch Lane and may be associated with Dalditch Brick Works located approximately 180m to the northwest and which is depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. It is sub-oval in shape, measures approximately 75m in length by 38m in width and is located within an area dominated by similar such features. The former extraction pit was not clearly visible on aerial photographs made available to the survey owing to the dense coverage of woodland within the plantation.
