Machine House at Brimpts, thought to have been constructed in the mid-19th century. Forms the western end of a two storied range with hipped roof. Constructed from roughly coursed granite rubblestone. Machine house on ground floor; loft above.

Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Late 19th century map depicts this structure as part of the east-west building (Shippon/barn). Adjoins building to the south (stable).


Ordnance Survey, 1904 - 1906, Second Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch Map (Cartographic). SDV325644.

Early 20th century historic map shows building. Now has adjoining extension to the niorth.


Royal Air Force, 1946 - 1949, Royal Air Force Aerial Photographs (Aerial Photograph). SDV342938.

Aerial photograph shows the main hipped range and the northern extension, which may be flat-roofed.

Survey depicts machine house and describes construction. Thought to be built in mid-19th century. Left (western) end of two-storied range. Front elevation faces west; attached at front right is stable. Hipped roof. Square building. Machine house to ground floor; loft over.
