Wapshott, E. + Morris, B., 2013, Land at Bishops Farm, Cookbury Devon. Results of a Desk-Based Assessment, Geophysical Survey, Archaeological Evaluation Trenching, Walkover Survey & Visual Impact Assessment (Report - non-specific). SDV351407.

Identified by geophysics. The ditches of the posited ‘triple-ditched enclosure’ appear to terminate at a later removed field boundary, although it is possible one of the ditches turns to the north-north-west. Within the posited enclosure there are a series of cut features, and two areas of magnetic disturbance that probably correspond with modern metallic debris, but equally could be earlier. It is likely these features correspond with the medieval or post-medieval tenement identified in the desk-based assessment (above). Excavation of an evaluation trench identified linear features which corroborated the accuracy of the geophysics result and also revealed a small amount of Romano-British gabbroic pottery from one of the ditches.
